Signs to look for

  • Insects that scatter when a light goes on in the kitchen or bathroom at night
  • Small dark droppings like ground pepper inside cupboards and behind appliances
  • Brown egg cases, about 8mm long, in warm gaps behind the fridge or oven
  • A musty, oily smell that gets stronger as numbers grow

How we treat it

  • An inspection of the kitchen, bathroom and service voids to find the harbourages
  • Gel bait placed in cracks and hinges where they hide, which they share with the colony
  • A residual treatment to voids and pipe runs that bait cannot reach
  • A follow-up at two weeks for the hatch, and a third visit if needed at no extra cost

There are two cockroaches we see in homes and kitchens here: the small, fast German cockroach, which lives indoors near warmth and water, and the larger Oriental cockroach, which prefers drains and cool damp voids. Both are treated the same way; both need patience.

Why gel bait, not spray

A spray kills what it touches. Gel bait works through the colony: a cockroach feeds on it, returns to its hiding place, and others feed on what it leaves behind. We place small spots of bait in hinges, cracks, behind the fridge and cooker and in the void behind the kick boards, where they spend the day.

The follow-up is not optional

Egg cases are protected against every treatment. A follow-up at two weeks catches the young that have hatched since, before they can breed. If there is still activity then, a third visit is included in the price.

For food businesses

We treat after service, keep bait out of food areas, and leave a written report with the products, locations and follow-up dates for your food safety file. If you want continuing cover, our annual contract includes eight routine visits and free callouts between them.
